๐ก Family Hub โ Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 October 2026 ยท Contact: tarekkaraman@gmail.com or Help & feedback inside the app
Family Hub ("the app", "we", "us") is a private organiser for families โ calendar, chores and pocket money, lists, meals, holidays, safety and care, and an AI Studio where children can make games and pictures. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use your family's content to profile anyone.
Who we are
Family Hub is operated by Karaman Ventures, postal address available on request by email ("the operator"). For anything in this policy, email tarekkaraman@gmail.com or send a note from Help & feedback in the app.
Accounts are for grown-ups
A family account is created by an adult (18 or over), who confirms they are the parent or legal guardian of any children they add. Other grown-ups can join the family with an invite, and the family's owner approves them. Children never get their own login: they are profiles that a parent creates and manages, used on the family's signed-in devices.
What we store
- Account details โ the email address and password you sign in with (the password is handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see it), or a sign-in identifier from Apple or Google. A relative who joins with the one-tap guest option gets an anonymous identifier instead.
- What your family adds โ member names, roles and ages, avatars, chores and pocket-money balances, calendar events, lists, meals and recipes, holidays, moods, notes, photos, and what you make in the AI Studio.
- Optional, more sensitive information โ only if you choose to add it: health and care details (allergies, medicines, vaccinations, appointments, blood type, emergency contacts and your home address), location check-ins and safe zones, documents and expiry dates in the life-admin vault, and household budgets. Please only add what your family actually needs.
- Things you share outside your family โ posts, photos, comments and likes in the Village, reviews of places in What's On, and games you share with a public link (see What other people can see).
- Messages to us โ feedback, help requests and reports you send from the app.
- Payments (once payments are switched on) โ your plan and a payment reference. Card details are handled by Stripe, PayPal or Apple; we never see or store them.
- Technical information โ like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address and browser details when you load the app. We use your approximate location (from your IP address, or a city you pick) only to show things to do nearby and your local emergency numbers.
Children's privacy
Family Hub is built for families, so it holds information about children โ but only what a parent or guardian adds, or what a child creates while using a profile their parent set up. That can include a child's name, age, avatar, chores and pocket money, calendar activities, moods, health details a parent enters, location check-ins a parent turns on, and what they make in the AI Studio (their prompts, any photo attached, and the resulting game, picture, song or video).
- We use this information only to run the features your family uses โ never for advertising, never sold, never used to profile a child.
- A child's AI Studio prompts (and any photo attached) are sent to our AI providers only to make the creation they asked for. Chats with the family assistant go to our AI provider in the same way, together with the parts of your family's calendar and lists it needs to answer.
- Children can't post in the Village; the Village is switched off for child profiles unless a parent turns it on; grown-up areas (finance, the vault, the grown-ups' corner) are hidden from child profiles, and Admin sits behind the parent PIN you set; and only a grown-up can share a game by public link.
- Parents are in control: you can see and edit everything in your child's profile, export a backup, delete any content or the whole profile, stop a feature from being used, or delete the entire account. You can also ask us to do any of this for you at tarekkaraman@gmail.com.
If you believe a child is using Family Hub without their parent's permission, contact us and we will delete the information.
How we use it
To provide and secure the service your family signed up for: syncing your hub across your devices, generating the AI creations and answers you ask for, showing things to do nearby, sending the notifications you turn on, handling payments, answering your messages, and keeping the service safe (for example, investigating reports or abuse). Where the law asks for a legal basis, we rely on our contract with you to run the service, on your consent for optional features such as health information and location, and on our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure. We don't use your family's content to train AI models.
Who helps us run it
We share information only with service providers that process it on our behalf for the features you use:
- Google Firebase (USA) โ database and sign-in.
- Netlify โ hosting and the app's server functions.
- AI providers โ Anthropic (Claude) for chat and games; OpenRouter, which routes picture requests to Google's Gemini models; fal.ai for video; and a music-generation provider when songs are switched on. They receive only the request needed for the creation or answer you asked for.
- Places, events and maps โ Ticketmaster (events near the city you're browsing), Wikipedia and Wikimedia (place listings and photos), Open-Meteo (weather and city search), ipwho.is (approximate location from your IP address, when our host can't tell), OpenStreetMap (the map on location check-ins, which receives the coordinates shown), ESPN (live sports scores) and YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (how-to videos).
- Notifications โ your browser's or phone's push service (Apple, Google or Mozilla) delivers the notifications you turn on.
- Payments โ Stripe, PayPal or Apple, when you buy something.
- Calendars you connect โ Apple iCloud (your app-specific password stays on your device) or a calendar link you import.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of the service (in which case this policy keeps applying to your data).
What other people can see
Your hub is private to your family. The exceptions are things you choose to share: Village posts, photos, comments and likes and What's On reviews are visible to every signed-in Family Hub family, shown under your family surname; a shared game link can be opened by anyone who has the link and shows the game and your family surname. Please don't share children's faces, names or other private details there. You can delete your own posts at any time, and anyone can report a post with ๐ฉ.
Operator access
The operator can technically access account data. We only do so to give support you ask for, to keep the service secure, to investigate reports or abuse, or where the law requires it.
Cookies and storage on your device
We don't use advertising or analytics cookies, and we don't run session-recording tools. The app stores a few things on your device so it works: your sign-in token, which family member is using the device, your settings, and an offline copy of your family's data. Our fonts are served from our own site, so loading the app doesn't send your IP address to Google Fonts.
Where it's stored
Our providers are mostly based in the United States and may process data in other countries. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.
How long we keep it
We keep your family's data while your account exists. When the family's owner deletes the account (Admin โ โ ๏ธ Delete this account), the family's hub and all its data are erased from our live database straight away; copies can remain in backups for a short time until they are overwritten. Village posts, reviews and shared game links are separate โ delete them first, or ask us to remove them. Messages you send us are kept as long as we need them to deal with your request.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Most of this you can do yourself in the app (edit, Admin โ Backup to export, delete). For anything else, contact tarekkaraman@gmail.com. If you're in the UK or EU you can also complain to your data-protection authority.
Security
Each family's data sits in its own space in our database, readable only by that family's signed-in members (and the operator, as described above). Connections are encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and keep your parent PIN private.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app.
